What Videas takes, and when you get paid
Payments on your channel are handled by Stripe. The money from your sales lands on your Stripe account, held in your company’s name, and Stripe pays it out to your bank account. Videas takes an all-inclusive 15% commission on each sale and issues you an invoice for it every month.
This article covers where the money goes, what is deducted, when you get paid and where to find your accounting documents. To open sales in the first place, see Activate monetization on your channel.
Your Stripe account
The payment account is created once your activation request is approved, from the identity you declared. Three things to remember:
- It is yours. It is opened in your entity’s name and Videas does not control it. Turning monetization off on a channel does not close it.
- One per organization. All your channels collect on the same account, under the same seller identity.
- You reach it from Videas. The Stripe dashboard button on Settings → Monetization opens your Stripe dashboard: payments, payouts, refunds and payout schedule.
Two chips summarise its state on the Monetization page:
| Chip | What it means |
|---|---|
| Payments active | Your channel can take payments |
| Payments blocked | Stripe has suspended collection — sales are closed |
| Payouts active | Stripe pays your revenue into your bank account |
| Payouts on hold | Sales carry on, but Stripe is holding the funds pending a document |
Identity verification (KYC). Stripe can ask for an identity document, proof of registration or bank details at any time, including after sales have opened. It is a regulatory obligation: while the file is incomplete, Stripe holds the funds instead of paying them out. The Monetization page then shows a Your payouts are waiting on a document banner, with a deadline whenever Stripe sets one.
What Videas never stores
Your buyers’ card numbers, payout details, identity documents: all of it is entered and kept at Stripe, never in Videas. That is what gives your channel Stripe’s PCI-DSS compliance, fraud prevention and identity verification without you having to build any of it.
The Videas commission
No upfront fee, no subscription: you only pay on what you sell.
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Videas commission | 15% of the sale, all inclusive |
Example. On a €10 sale, the Videas commission is €1.50. No other fee is taken: payment processing is covered by the commission and is not passed on to you.
The rate applied to your account is shown on Settings → Monetization, under Terms. It is set at activation and does not move afterwards, even if the platform’s public rate changes.
The commission is withheld as sales happen: there is no transfer for you to make to Videas. The monthly invoice you receive is the supporting document, issued as already settled, with no payment instructions.
VAT on the fee invoice. Videas invoices from France: 20% VAT for a French seller, reverse charge for an EU business that has provided its intra-community VAT number, out of scope outside the EU. Hence the importance of the VAT number entered at activation.
What the rest costs: the pricing page gives the prices for storage, bandwidth and subtitling, which are paid in credits rather than through commission.
When you get paid
Payouts are driven by Stripe, not by Videas. By default, Stripe pays your revenue into your bank account on the schedule set in your dashboard — usually daily, with a two-day delay. The exact schedule, the payout history and the destination bank account are all viewed and changed from the Stripe dashboard.
Two situations delay a payout without stopping your sales:
- A missing document (see above) — Stripe holds the funds until the file is complete.
- Your first transactions — Stripe applies a longer delay on a new account, while it builds up a history.
The monthly statement
At the end of each month, Videas produces a statement under Sales → Revenue & invoicing. The current month appears there too, marked in progress.
| Column | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Month | The month closed |
| Sales | The number of sales |
| Sales (incl. tax) | The total collected, taxes included |
| Net of tax | The same total, excluding taxes |
| VAT | The VAT collected on your sales |
| Fees | The Videas commission taken over the month |
| Net | What comes back to you |
Two documents come with each row:
- Sales — the detailed export of the month’s transactions, to open in a spreadsheet. It carries a Fees column per transaction, whose total comes back to exactly the figure on the statement row.
- Fee invoice — the PDF invoice for the month’s Videas commission, for your accountant.
Amounts shown elsewhere in Videas — the overview, best-selling content — are sales amounts, before fees. The statement is the only place that gives you your net.
Refunds
Refunds are issued from your Stripe dashboard: open the transaction and refund it, in full or in part. The amount returned to your customer is taken from your funds.
What happens to the commission. Videas returns the commission taken on the refunded sale, less the processing fees Stripe keeps: Stripe does not return its fees on a refund, and they are covered by our 15%. On a partial refund, the amount returned follows the refunded share. Both the refund and the returned commission appear on the month’s statement.
A refund does not remove access. Giving the money back and taking the content back are two separate moves: the purchase stays listed in the Access tab of the customer’s record. For a subscription, cancel it in Videas (see Manage your subscribers and customers), or the customer keeps being charged. For a purchase or a rental, contact support to have the access removed.
Exactly how much does Videas take?
15% of the sale amount, all inclusive. There is no entry fee, no subscription, and no processing fees passed on: payment processing is included in the commission. On a €10 sale, Videas takes €1.50.
The rate applied to your account is shown in Settings → Monetization, in the Terms section. It is fixed at activation and does not move afterwards, even if the platform’s public pricing changes.
Do I have to pay the commission to Videas?
No, it is withheld as sales come in: you have no transfer to make. The monthly invoice you receive is the supporting document, issued as already settled, with no payment instruction.
It downloads from Sales → Revenue & billing, next to the detailed export of the month’s transactions. The Fees column of that export, added up, matches the statement line exactly.
When does the money reach my bank account?
Stripe drives the payouts, not Videas. By default they follow the schedule configured in your Stripe dashboard — generally daily, with a two-day delay. The exact calendar, the history and the destination account are viewed and changed from the Stripe Dashboard.
Two situations delay a payout without stopping your sales: a missing document, and the first transactions on a new account, to which Stripe applies a longer delay while it builds a history.
Why are my payouts on hold?
Because a document is missing from your file at Stripe — ID, proof of registration or IBAN. It is a regulatory obligation, and Stripe can trigger it at any time, including long after sales opened.
Your sales continue normally in the meantime: Stripe holds the funds instead of paying them out. The Monetization page then shows a banner reading Your payouts are awaiting a document, with a Complete my file button and the deadline when Stripe sets one.
Where do I see my net revenue?
Only on the monthly statement, in Sales → Revenue & billing. Its Net column is the only place in Videas that shows what actually comes to you, after commission.
Every other amount displayed in the interface — overview, best-selling content — is a sale amount, before fees. That is the most common confusion at month’s end.
Does a refund remove access to the content?
No. Returning the money and withdrawing the content are two separate acts: after a refund, the purchase stays listed in the Access tab of the customer’s profile.
For a subscription, cancel it in Videas, otherwise the customer keeps being charged. For a purchase or a rental, you have to go through support to have access removed. The refund itself is issued from your Stripe Dashboard, in full or in part.
What happens to the commission on a refunded sale?
Videas returns it to you, less the processing fees Stripe keeps — Stripe does not refund its fees on a refund, and they are included in our 15%. On a partial refund, the return follows the refunded share.
Both the refund and the return appear on that month’s statement.
How does VAT apply to the fee invoice?
Videas invoices from France: 20% VAT for a French seller, reverse charge for a European Union company that has provided its intra-EU VAT number, and out of scope outside the European Union.
Hence the importance of the VAT number entered at activation: without it, a European company will be charged the French VAT it could have avoided.
In short
- Sales money lands on your Stripe account, held in your company’s name and shared across the whole organization
- Videas never stores a card number or bank details: it all lives at Stripe (PCI-DSS compliance)
- Commission: an all-inclusive 15% of the sale, with no upfront fee and no subscription; withheld as sales happen, with a monthly invoice as the supporting document
- Payouts are driven by Stripe — usually daily, with a two-day delay; adjustable from the Stripe dashboard
- A missing document does not block sales but puts payouts on hold until it is provided
- Monthly statement, sales export and fee invoice under Sales → Revenue & invoicing
- Refunds are issued from Stripe, do not remove access to the content, and give rise to the commission being returned, less the processing fees Stripe keeps
