01 — The challenge

Becoming an independent channel just as its video provider was shutting down, without losing its archives and without giving up on online distribution worthy of a television channel.

02 — The solution

Videas stores and archives every Télépaese production, and hosts its online TV, tv.telepaese.media, with a TV schedule and around fifteen programs sorted into categories.

03 — The full story

Télépaese, the channel that tells Corsica’s story

Télépaese is a local television channel on Corsica, the French island in the Mediterranean. News, magazine shows, sport, documentaries, series, concert recordings: its output covers island life across a wide range, the range of a genuine regional general-interest channel.

For years, its distribution rested on two outside supports: MyVideoPlace, its video provider, and Via, a network of French local TV channels it had joined. MyVideoPlace shut down, and Télépaese chose to leave the network and stand on its own.

Two changes at once, then, and a single question: where to put its videos, and how to keep showing them under its own name. The answer had to be a European one, close enough to be accountable and clear about where the files are kept.

The challenge: becoming independent without losing anything

Archives to save, first of all

A local channel builds up a memory. Reports, magazine shows, event and concert recordings form a body of work that keeps its value long after broadcast, for the island as much as for the channel itself.

Télépaese’s first requirement was easy to state: somewhere to store and archive every production, with no sorting and no capacity limit that would force it to delete things.

Distribution to rebuild from the ground up

Leaving a network also means leaving the distribution setup that comes with it. Télépaese was not looking for storage: it wanted an online TV channel, meaning a schedule, sections, identifiable programs, and an address under its own name where the audience can find it.

The difference matters: a list of videos is not a channel. A television station presents itself through its programs.

Independence that has to last

Once a provider has shut down, the next concern is not ending up in the same position again. Télépaese was looking for something it runs itself, where its content belongs to it and stays available whatever happens.

The Videas solution

Archiving that takes in the whole catalog

Every Télépaese production is stored and archived in its Videas library. Broadcast programs, recordings, documentaries: the channel uploads, organizes and preserves, without having to choose what it keeps.

Hosting is in the EU, on servers in France, and the content remains the channel’s own property. For a broadcaster that has just left two outside dependencies behind, knowing exactly where its archive sits, and under whose jurisdiction, is part of what independence means.

An online TV channel under its own name: tv.telepaese.media

From that catalog, Télépaese publishes its own online television at tv.telepaese.media, built with Channels.

It offers a TV schedule and around fifteen programs sorted into categories: news, magazine shows, sport, documentaries, series, concert recordings. The audience does not land on a pile of videos, it walks into a schedule, as it would on any channel.

A channel the newsroom runs itself

Télépaese decides what goes online, how its programs are sorted and what gets featured. No outside help is needed to publish a program or reshape the schedule.

Results

A body of work preserved:

  • Every production the channel makes is stored and archived in one place.
  • Past programs stay available long after they aired.

A channel that exists online:

  • The online TV is available at Télépaese’s own address, with its schedule and its sections.
  • Around fifteen programs are sorted into categories, from news to concert recordings.

Independence in practice:

  • Distribution no longer depends on the network it left, nor on a provider that shut down.
  • The newsroom runs its own channel and its own catalog.

Why Videas for a local TV channel

Télépaese and Corsaire TV went through the same thing: the provider running their distribution shut down. Both brought their channel back online with Videas, each according to what it already had in place.

What Videas brings a regional broadcaster:

  • Archiving with no sorting: the channel’s entire body of work in one place, preserved and available.
  • A real online TV channel: a schedule and sections, at the broadcaster’s own address.
  • Autonomy: the newsroom publishes and arranges its schedule without depending on anyone else.
  • Hosting in the EU: the channel’s content stays under European jurisdiction.

Videas has worked with Télépaese since it became independent, from archiving its productions to the online television that brings them to its audience.

The results

  • Every production stored and archived in one place
  • An online TV channel under its own name, tv.telepaese.media
  • A TV schedule and around fifteen programs sorted into categories
  • Distribution that no longer depends on a network or on a provider that shut down
  • A catalog the audience can browse, program by program
