Bunny vs Videas

The API, plus the interface

Your developers keep their API. The rest of the team gets a media library, live streaming in production and analytics, without touching any code.

Where Bunny falls short

  • Everything goes through the API: no editorial interface

Bunny Stream is run through the API and a technical dashboard: nothing is built for a non-technical team's daily use.

  • Analytics stop at playback

Views and watch time, but no lead capture, no call-to-action testing, no campaign attribution.

  • No native integration for a CMS or an LMS

No plugin, no ready-made editor: putting a video in WordPress or Moodle means coding your own integration.

  • Bandwidth pricing swings up to sixfold

$0.01/GB in Europe, up to $0.06/GB in the Middle East and Africa: the bill depends on where your audience watches from.

  • Storage zones can't be removed after the fact

A zone turned on by mistake can't be turned off: the only way out is deleting it and re-uploading everything.

  • Documentation rated insufficient, despite responsive support

Support replies fast, but customer reviews point to documentation that leaves too many questions unanswered.

  • A monthly billing minimum, even at very low usage

A $1 minimum is charged every month, even for a nearly idle account.

  • Live streaming only exists as a preview since August 2026

Opened as an early access preview in August 2026, with no guaranteed availability for an event on a fixed date.

Videas media library search bar filtered by keyword, theme and file format

A full interface, not just an API

Bunny Stream is run through the API and a dashboard limited to monitoring. Videas adds a complete media library: folders, search by keyword or format, shared spaces between teammates. The whole team manages videos day to day from this interface, not just the developers who wrote the integration.

Live streaming, available today

Bunny's live streaming remains a preview since August 2026, with no guaranteed availability for a planned event. Videas live streaming is in production today: RTMP ingest compatible with OBS or vMix, adaptive delivery over the CDN, and an automatic replay filed into the media library once the broadcast ends.

Videas viewing heatmap along a video's timeline

Analytics that go beyond playback

At Bunny, the stats stop at views and watch time: enough to know the video is running, not what it's earning. Videas adds click-through rate, viewing heatmaps that show exactly where the audience drops off, and per-video exports to share the numbers without a screenshot. Enough to measure what converts, not just what plays.

The API is still there for your developers

Nothing forces a choice between the two: the Videas API covers uploads, playback, the domains allowed to embed the player and folder management, with a JavaScript/TypeScript SDK and a Python SDK. Uploads use the resumable TUS protocol, so an interrupted transfer picks up where it stopped instead of starting over. Your developers keep their integration; the rest of the team keeps its interface.

The developer sets up the integration, the team keeps control

Bodytime dropped a branded player into an existing site, with no rebuild; BTLV serves a 4,000-hour catalogue across its WordPress pages, at pricing known in advance. Once the integration is in place, videos are managed from the interface.

Frequently asked questions

Are Bunny and Videas the same thing?

No. Bunny is a CDN and video infrastructure built for developers, billed on usage. Videas is a complete video platform, with an interface usable without technical skills, on top of its API.

Does Videas offer a comparable API?

Yes. The Videas API covers uploads, playback and the domains allowed to embed the player, with JavaScript and Python SDKs. Unlike Bunny, it is never required: the interface is enough for everyday use.

Does the price or hosting-in-France argument work against Bunny?

Not really. Bunny already bills on usage and hosts natively in the European Union, GDPR compliant. The real difference lies elsewhere: the complete media library, live streaming already in production, analytics that go beyond playback, and support in French.

Does Bunny offer live streaming?

Only as a preview, opened in August 2026. Videas live streaming (RTMP ingest, adaptive delivery, automatic replay) is in production today.

How much does Videas cost?

Pricing is usage-based: €0.20 per hour of stored video per month, €0.02 per GB of bandwidth, at one flat rate regardless of region. €5 free credit on sign-up, then €5 every month.

Can I migrate from Bunny Stream?

Yes. Videas offers an assisted migration service. Our team handles the transfer of your files and their organization.

Where is Videas data hosted?

In France, with native GDPR compliance and no transfer outside the European Union.

Is there an official SDK (software development kit)?

Yes, two ready-to-use kits to integrate Videas without starting from scratch: @videas/sdk for JavaScript and TypeScript, videas-sdk for Python. Uploads use the resumable TUS protocol, so an interrupted transfer picks up where it stopped.

Is support available in French?

Yes, by email and chat, in French. Bunny runs self-service: documentation and community first, with no guarantee of French-language support.

Do Videas analytics go beyond playback?

Yes: views, watch time and device, like Bunny, but also viewing heatmaps and exportable per-video stats, built for a marketing team, not just technical monitoring.
