Atika Yoga: Yoga Accessible to All, from Studio to Screen
Marie Galve is the founder of Atika Therapy, a yoga and wellness space nestled under the rooftops of Vevey’s old town, in French-speaking Switzerland. Internationally trained and Yoga Alliance RYT 500-certified, she also holds TCMA Geneva credentials and is ASCA and RME recognized for classic massage and reflexology.
Her teaching spans a broad range of disciplines: Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, as well as specializations addressing specific needs – prenatal yoga to support pregnancy, postnatal yoga for postpartum recovery, mom-and-baby yoga, kids yoga, and family yoga. She also offers 4- to 6-week programs, monthly themed workshops, and Yoga & Surf retreats for complete immersion.
Beyond yoga, Atika Therapy offers complementary treatments – classic massage, sports massage, prenatal massage, cupping therapy, reflexology – in a holistic approach to wellness that combines movement, bodywork, and breathing.
To extend her teaching beyond the walls of her Vevey studio, Marie Galve chose Videas and launched her online yoga class channel: atikayoga.videastv.com.
The Challenge: Making Studio Teaching Accessible Online
A Studio Rooted in the Local Community
The Atika studio is an intimate space, set in a loft with exposed beams, a fireplace, and natural light – an ideal setting for yoga practice. But this local character comes with limitations:
- The catchment area is limited to Vevey and the surrounding Riviera Vaudoise.
- In-person class schedules don’t work for everyone – between work, children, and commuting, students can’t always make it to the studio.
- Marie’s specializations (prenatal, postnatal, kids yoga, family yoga) appeal to an audience far larger than the Vevey area alone.
The Demand for Online Yoga Video Classes
Marie Galve noticed recurring demand from her students:
- Students who want to keep practicing at home between weekly studio sessions.
- Pregnant women seeking prenatal yoga video classes adapted to each trimester that they can follow at their own pace.
- New mothers needing short, flexible postnatal yoga sessions compatible with a newborn’s unpredictable schedule.
- Families wanting to practice together – parents and children – with adapted sessions.
- French speakers in Switzerland, France, or elsewhere looking for online yoga classes in French taught by a certified RYT 500 teacher.
The Constraints of an Independent Teacher
Marie Galve manages her studio, treatments, and classes solo:
- No technical team: the video platform must be simple to use daily.
- Small business budget: no heavy investment in infrastructure or web development.
- The wellness and health context (prenatal, postnatal) demands a respectful environment: no advertising, no trackers, no distractions during practice.
- The teaching videos represent hours of preparation and filming – they must be protected and valued.
The Videas Solution: Online Yoga Classes for All Audiences
Marie Galve launched Atika Yoga on Videas to offer her yoga classes on video.
1. A Multi-Style, Multi-Audience Catalog
The Atika Yoga channel offers classes covering all of the styles Marie teaches:
- Hatha yoga: foundational sessions, held postures, breathwork (pranayama), and concentration.
- Vinyasa yoga: flowing sequences, dynamic pace, movement-breath coordination.
- Yin yoga: slow, deep practice, floor postures held for several minutes, working on connective tissue and flexibility.
- Prenatal yoga: sessions adapted trimester by trimester to support pregnancy – pelvic floor strengthening, back and hip tension relief, birth preparation.
- Postnatal yoga: gentle postpartum recovery, pelvic floor strengthening, progressive fitness.
- Mom-and-baby yoga: sessions to practice with your baby, combining yoga postures with parent-child interaction.
- Kids and family yoga: playful sessions to introduce children to yoga and practice as a family.
This catalog meets real demand for online yoga classes in French: searches for “prenatal yoga online,” “yoga video classes,” and “kids yoga online” are growing rapidly, and few French-speaking platforms offer this diversity from a single RYT 500-certified teacher.
2. Posture Tutorials, Breathing, and Meditation
Beyond full classes, the channel offers targeted content:
- Posture tutorials: technical detail of each asana, alignment, common mistakes, level variations.
- Breathing techniques (pranayama): guided exercises to calm the mind, improve focus, or prepare for practice.
- Meditation sessions: guided by Marie, adapted for beginners and regular practitioners alike.
- Conditioning: strengthening and physical preparation exercises complementary to yoga practice.
These short, targeted pieces are an ideal complement to full classes: a student can rework a specific posture, deepen a breathing technique, or simply meditate for a few minutes.
3. A Technical Framework Suited for Wellness
The Videas player deployed for Atika Yoga meets the requirements of the wellness and health context:
- No cookies, no ads: students practice in a calm, respectful environment, without distractions or commercial solicitation during their session.
- GDPR compliance: no personal data transmitted to third parties – an important point for prenatal and postnatal classes, where confidentiality is essential.
- Hosting in France: videos are stored on French servers, under European jurisdiction.
- Adaptive streaming: video adjusts to the connection – smooth playback on a smartphone in 4G as well as on a TV via fiber.
4. Autonomous Catalog Management
The Videas interface allows Marie to manage her channel independently:
- Upload and publish new classes without technical expertise.
- Organize the catalog by yoga style, level, and target audience.
- No infrastructure to maintain: Videas handles hosting, encoding, and delivery.
Marie focuses on teaching and filming – Videas handles the technology.
Results: A Yoga Studio Extended Beyond Vevey
Launching Atika Yoga on Videas allowed Marie Galve to extend her teaching beyond her studio.
Expanded Accessibility: - Students from across French-speaking Switzerland and the Francophone world access her classes without traveling to Vevey. - Pregnant women find prenatal yoga classes in French taught by a certified teacher, adapted to each stage of pregnancy. - New mothers follow postnatal sessions at their own pace, whenever their baby allows. - Families practice together with sessions designed for children.
Complement to In-Person Teaching: - Studio students have a practice support between classes – they find the same sequences and approach as in the studio. - Tutorial videos allow students to rework specific postures covered in class. - The catalog’s diversity encourages students to explore other styles (a Vinyasa student trying Yin, for example).
Additional Revenue: - Video class sales generate revenue outside studio hours, without schedule constraints. - The catalog constitutes a lasting asset: each video produced continues to sell, creating a cumulative effect. - The video channel serves as a professional showcase – people who discover Marie online sometimes end up visiting the studio in Vevey.
Why Videas for Yoga Teachers and Studios?
The Atika Yoga case illustrates how an independent yoga teacher can sell classes online without technical investment:
- Multi-style catalog: Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, prenatal, postnatal, kids, family – all classes organized and accessible on a single platform.
- Customized video channel: dedicated site reflecting the studio’s identity, catalog structured by style and audience.
- Cookie-free, ad-free player: calm, respectful environment suited for wellness and health contexts.
- French sovereign hosting: protected data, native GDPR compliance.
- Autonomous management: upload, organization, and publishing managed solo, without technical skills.
Videas supports Marie Galve in extending her teaching beyond her Vevey studio, providing the video infrastructure that allows an independent teacher to sell yoga classes online with the professionalism of a major platform – and the peace of mind of respectful hosting.
